Layered composite materials fail differently than metal — delamination between plies, porosity in the resin matrix, disbonds at joint lines. Generic UT platforms often miss these failure modes. SDI's Composiscan systems are engineered specifically around composite material behavior, standard on modern aerospace structures.
Two scales are available — a full production Composiscan platform and a compact flat-frame system for smaller panels and development work.
Composiscan Ultrasonic Composite Inspection System
SDI's purpose-built composite inspection platform, tuned for delamination, porosity, and bond-line detection in layered aerospace composite structures. Available in gantry and horizontal through-transmission configurations depending on part geometry.
| Configuration | Composiscan, multiple deliveries available |
| Detects | Delamination, porosity, disbonds |
| Typical use | Aerospace composite structures |
Flat-Frame Composite Scanning System
A compact flat-frame Composiscan platform for smaller composite panels and lab-scale development work, sharing the same delamination and porosity detection capability as SDI's larger production systems.
| Configuration | Flat-frame Composiscan |
| Typical use | Smaller composite panels, lab/R&D development |
