WHY COMPOSITE

Layered composite materials fail differently than metal — delamination between plies, porosity in the resin matrix, disbonds at joint lines. Generic UT platforms often miss these failure modes. SDI's Composiscan systems are engineered specifically around composite material behavior, standard on modern aerospace structures.

Two scales are available — a full production Composiscan platform and a compact flat-frame system for smaller panels and development work.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Why does composite inspection need dedicated equipment?
Composite materials fail through delamination, porosity, and disbonds — failure modes that behave very differently from the crack and void detection metal inspection is tuned for. Composiscan systems are calibrated specifically for layered material response.
What's the difference between the SDI-5610 and SDI-6111?
The SDI-5610 is a full production-scale platform with flexible delivery options, while the SDI-6111 is a compact flat-frame system suited to smaller panels and lab/development work.
Is this system NADCAP-compatible for aerospace work?
